John Hancock Selects

John Hancock has selected Mellon Investor Services to provide transfer agent, registrar, dividend disbursing agent, and dividend reinvestment agent services for nine of the former's closed-end mutual funds, a spokesperson with Mellon told the MutualFundWire.com. The agreement takes effect immediately.

Mellon will be providing services to approximately 14,000 fund investors and trustees. All the funds in Hancock's Patriot series will be affected by this move as will Hancock's other four closed-end funds.

"We chose Mellon because they have a lot of state-of-the-art technology," a spokesperson with Hancock told the MutualFundWire.com. "We were very impressed with that. Our clients will be able to access their accounts online. Our website for them will be linked directly to Mellon's home page."

"By partnering with them, we could bring a whole suite of services to our shareholders," she continued. "This is our first relationship with Mellon, and we hope to grow more as time goes on."
