Is MFS Hunting for a New Home?

Is MFS planning to move out of 500 Boylston Street? The Boston Herald reports that the Beantown-based mutual fund firm has a letter of intent to take around 300,000 square foot of space at 111 Huntington Avenue, which Bain Capital is vacating.

An MFS spokesman told The MFWire that the firm has not made a decision yet.

"MFS is under lease until the first quarter of 2013 for its current headquarters location at 500 Boylston," MFS spokesman John Reilly wrote in an e-mail.

"The company is evaluating its real estate needs beyond that date but no firm decisions have been made. MFS is committed to keeping its headquarters in Boston," he added.

500 Boylston has served as MFS's headquarters since 1988. About 1,200 of MFS' total employee count of 1,700 work in that building. MFS occupies 12 out of 25 floors in that location.
