Hancock Has a Dinner Date with 1,000 Advisors

John Hancock Funds [see profile] is serving up steak and market views to advisors in 38 cities tonight. Advisors will have the chance to pose questions in real time to investment pros, who will be speaking from a Boston studio.

"We're shooting for 1,000 FAs," Carey Foran Hoch, senior vice president and head of marketing at Boston-based John Hancock Funds, told The MFWire.com.

Nationally syndicated columnist Terry Savage will moderate the discussion, which will be beamed live to dinner venues across the country.

The speakers are representatives from three of Hancock's sub-advisors: William Priest, founder, CEO and co-CIO at Epoch Investment Partners [see profile]; Barry Evans, chief investment officer of global fixed income & country head, U.S. at John Hancock Financial Services subsidiary MFC Global Investment Management and Jay Feeney, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Robeco Investment Management [see profile].

Hancock is offering two sessions for the discussion, which it has dubbed Market Pulse: one for those based on the East Coast and Central areas and another for the West Coast crowd.

This is the second time Hancock is mounting such an event. The first one was held last November.

"Advisors loved the technology and the opportunity to interact real-time," Foran Hoch said. "We knew we wanted to do it again. We were waiting for the right window of opportunity to do it."

"We will continue to use this kind of technology," she said.
