First Eagle Investment Management gained the attention of industry insiders by tapping Macaskill to take over from John Arnhold as CEO early this year. Arnhold remains as chairman and now also serves as chief investment officer.

The British-born Macaskill grew up on the operations side of the business and is best known for her decade-long stint as CEO of MassMutual's OppenheimerFunds arm. She also serves on the board of Britain's Prudential PLC.
