Falcon Lands on Gatch's Shoulders

George Gatch

CEO, Investment Management, Americas
As reported by The MFWire.com's sister publication The 401kWire.com this morning, George Gatch has turned to a former Merrill Lynch executive to lead JPMorgan's retirement business in the U.S. and Canada.

Michael Falcon, a former head of Merrill Lynch's retirement division, will oversee the money center bank's bundled retirement plan and defined contribution investment-only (DC I-O) businesses.

"The retirement industry is poised to enter a period of unprecedented growth and expansion, with Defined Contribution, Individual Retirement Accounts and after tax retirement savings increasingly generating the bulk of investable assets," Gatch said in a press release on Tuesday.

Falcon brings to the table experience running Merrill Lynch's retirement group. He was a key figure in the purchase of the defined contribution business of Amescap (now Invesco) in 2005. Falcon left Merrill Lynch in 2008.

Falcon started his career at The Chase Manhattan Bank in 1985 and later worked at Sara Lee Corporation.

Most recently, he has been managing a financial media and consulting firm started by NBC's Today financial edtior Jean Chatzky. He also serves as a senior advisor to Knowledgent Group and BrightScope.com.
