Thursday, December 16, 2010 Manulife Makes an Acquisition in the Midwest Manulife Asset Management, which until yesterday was called MFC Global Investment Management, has inked a deal to acquire Optique Capital Management's investment management business. [SEC filing] Milwaukee-based Optique is the investment adviser to the $2.5 million Optique International Fund and also manages money for foundations, endowments and high-net-worth individuals. As part of the agreement, it is proposed that the mutual fund be adopted by Manulife Asset Management affiliate John Hancock Funds, according to the SEC filing. The Optique fund will be reorganized into a new fund to be called John Hancock International Value Equity Fund. This would be John Hancock Funds' 12th adoption. Optique's chief investment officer, Wendell Perkins, could not immediately be reached for comment. A Hancock spokesperson declined to comment.
