Calvert Merges Away a $653M Fund

Calvert [see profile] plans to merge two large cap growth mutual funds. On May 2 the Bethesda, Maryland-based socially-responsible investments specialist filed to have the four-star Calvert Equity Portfolio (which held $1.8 billion as of May 11) swallow the three-star Calvert Large Cap Growth Fund (which held $653.4 million) [see filing].

The MFWire could not immediately reach a Calvert spokesperson for comment on the reason for the merger.

The merger is still pending shareholder approval. Yet in the meantime, effective May 2, the PM team of Calvert Equity has taken over Calvert Large Cap Growth. They are Richard England, William Hackney and Paul Marshall, all from sub-advisor Atlanta Capital.
