Federated Hires New Global Research Head

Federated Investors has named Christopher F. Corapi senior vice president and head of equity research for both domestic and international stocks. He will join the firm on November 4 and report to Stephen F. Auth, executive vice president and chief investment officer of the equity division.

Corapi (44), who brings twenty-two years of experience, is jumping over from Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he was managing director of U.S. equity research and co-head of U.S. equities. He was responsible for integrating portfolio teams and a central research group into a single U.S. equity team.

"Federated has taken a number of steps in recent years to increase its investment management capabilities and Chris will play a crucial role in leading our effort to enhance our proprietary research," said Keith M. "Kim" Schappert, president and chief executive officer for Federated's investment advisory companies, in a release.

Corapi will also assist in the development of strategies and policies for domestic and international equity portfolios, which include 80 mutual funds and separately managed accounts totaling approximately $20.9 billion in assets as of June 30, 2002.

Pittsburgh-based Federated Investors reports some $185 billion in mutual funds and separate accounts as of June 30, 2002.
