Wednesday, June 22, 2011 A Pimco Exec Heeds a Hedge Fund's Beckon Hedge fund shop Ramius LLC has hired Adrian Schultes as a managing director and Head of Distribution for Ramius Alternative Solutions LLC, reporting to Thomas Strauss, president and CEO of Ramius. In this newly created role, Schultes will help to lead RASL's marketing and distribution activities across its hedge funds and mutual fund, according to a Ramius spokesperson. Last year, Ramius launched its first mutual fund, Ramius Dynamic Replication Fund, a hedge fund replication offering with the daily liquidity of a mutual fund. Schultes was previously with Pimco [see profile], where he served as senior vice president of institutional direct marketing & consultant Relations, responsible for identifying corporate prospects. Earlier, he worked at Ibbotson Associates. A Pimco spokesman could not be reached for comment on Schultes' departure. In a statement, Strauss said: "As we continue to grow Ramius' product portfolio, we believe it is essential to enhance our sales and distribution infrastructure to offer institutional clients and joint venture partners our full range of investment and advisory solutions."
