Eaton Vance and Franklin Have Good News For Stock Funds

Are equity mutual fund flows finally turning around and heading for positive territory? Murray Coleman of Barron's points to Ticonderoga Securities analyst Douglas Sipkin's take on Eaton Vance [see profile] and Franklin Templeton [see profile].

Sipkin sees room for optimism. He notes that Franklin's weekly equity outflows just dropped from $254 million to $72 million and that Eaton Vance's equity outflows dropped from $128 million to $62 million.

Yet Sipkin singles out the three-star, $16.3-billion Eaton Vance Large-Cap Value Fund for criticism, while Morningstar analyst Greg Carlson calls the fund "well-positioned."
