Direxion Hires in NYC
Direxion [profile] national sales manager John Cadigan has brought on board J. Robert Abreu as senior regional sales director. Abreu will pitch the firm's buy-and-hold products to advisors across all channels in the Greater New York City area.
Abreu's predecessor in that role has moved on from the company.
Abreu joined Direxion three weeks ago, Cadigan told The MFWire.com. Cadigan added that the notification e-mail that Direxion sent out to 8,200 advisors in the Greater New York area has yielded more than 800 responses.
Cadigan's team includes eight external wholesalers that are supported by hybrids.
Most recently, Abreu was with Bridge Financial Group, an office of MetLife. Before that, he worked at Morgan Stanley and Paine Webber and earlier in his career spent 18 years at Merrill Lynch. His roles there included
managing the equity product group and the closed-end fund marketing effort.
Abreu is the latest in a string of hires Cadigan has made since becoming Direxion's national sales manager last fall. Cadigan hired Harold Clemons as senior sales director for the Mid-South region [MFWire coverage] and Angelo Pirri for the Northwest [MFWire coverage].
