A Fidelity IPO? You Wish

Fidelity just landed on a new top list. On Wednesday Tim Parker of Business Insider called the Boston-based mutual fund firm one of the "6 Private Companies Investors Wish Were Public".

"Fidelity Investments rivals some of the largest privately owned investment management firms," Parker wrote.

The article offers several metrics on Fidelity's size.

Business Insider put together the list -- which also includes Cargill, Chic-Fil-A, Enterprise, Mars and Publix -- in light of all the buzz surrounding the impending Facebook initial public offering, asking: "Are there other private companies that would cause an equal amount of hype if they were to take their company public?"

The site also noted that "most of these companies have a long history of remaining private, making the chances of an IPO very slim."
