A New PM Joins the Bridge at Federated Kaufmann

Changes were made in the management team at three Federated [profile] mutual funds, including the firm's flagship.

Johnathan Gold is leaving the Pittsburg-based asset manager, where he co-PMed the Federated Kaufmann Fund I and II, and veteran PM Tom Brackel is taking on his duties, as well as joining the Kaufmann Small Cap Fund [SEC filing].

These funds have about $6.5 billion in combined AUM. They will continue to be led by PMs Larry Auriana and Hans Utch, who have been at the helm since 1986.

Brackel has been an analyst and PM on various Federated funds for the last nine years. Gold was named PM in 2008 and had been with the firm since 2004.

Gold could not immediately be reached for comment, and a Federated spokeswoman declined comment on the reasons for his departure.
