Clark Will Offer Total Return in a Mutual Fund

Clark Capital Management Group [profile] is preparing to launch a tactical, total return, fixed income strategy in both Luxembourg and in a collective trust here in the U.S. Watch for the Philadelphia-based separately managed account and unified managed account manager to launch a mutual fund version of the strategy, too.

"We're actually considering the fixed income total return strategy as a domestic mutual fund," Brendan Clark, president of the shop, said during a recent visit to MFWire's offices on New York's Wall Street. "Right now the demand abroad is tremendous. We'll follow up with a '40-Act fund over the next 12 months."

Clark Capital already offers U.S. investors one mutual fund, the $85-million Navigator Equity Hedge Fund. Harry Clark, chairman and CEO of the firm and father of Brendan, added that he expects to have a total of four '40-Act funds by the end of 2013.

"Investment advisors and clients are demanding greater risk management, greater certainty and lower volatility," Brendan said. "Well before it was en vogue, we were managing downside risk."
