Stork and Reaper for August 15, 2012


Today, the Stork brought in a couple of new funds.

AQR Capital Management [profile] filed for its Risk Parity II MV Fund and Risk Parity II HV Fund. The funds will invest in major liquid asset classes. The funds will be managed by John Lieu, Brian Hurst, Michael Mendelson and Yao Ooi. Lieu co-founded AQR Capital Management, which serves as the advisor to these funds. [SEC Filing]

Forward Management [profile] filed to open its Small Core Strategy Long/Short Fund, which will invest in small-cap. The fund will be managed by Jim O'Donnell, CIO of Forward Management. [SEC Filing]

MFS Investment Management [profile] filed for its Lifetime 2015 Fund. The fund will be managed by Joseph Flaherty, who has work with the investment side of MFS since 1993. [SEC Filing]

The Reaper closed one fund today.

Jones Villalta [profile] filed to liquidate its Opportunity Fund. The filing cites the fund's small size as one of the reasons as to why the fund will be closed. According to data from Morningstar, the fund has $8 million in AUM as of August 14, 2012. The fund will close as of September 21, 2012. [SEC Filing]

Russell Investments [profile] filed for the reorganization of its U.S. Value Fund into its U.S. Defensive Equity Fund. The reorganization will be completed on October 15, 2012. As of August 14, 2012, the U.S. Value fund has $82 million in AUM and a 1-star rating on Morningstar. [SEC Filing]

In the meanwhile, other funds are being reorganized.

Payden & Rygel [profile] added Jordan Lopez as PM to its High Income Fund. He, as well as Sabur Moini, are responsible for managing the fund. [SEC Filing]

Pax World Management [profile] changed the name of its Global Green Fund to Global Environmental Markets Fund. The fund invests in companies which focus on environmental markets. [SEC Filing]
