Stork and Reaper for August 21, 2012

The Stork dropped off a single fund today.

iShares [profile] filed for the iShares MSCI EFM Africa ex South Africa Index Fund, which will seek results that correspond with the MSCI EFM Africa ex South Africa Index. The index was designed to measure the performance of equity markets in Africa. The fund will be advised by BlackRock Fund Advisors and managed by Rene Casis, Diane Hsiung, Jennifer Hsui and Greg Savage. [SEC Filing]

The Reaper swooped down with its mighty scythe and closed a few funds.

Northern Institutional Funds [profile] will merge nine Northern Institutional Funds into their corresponding Northern Funds. Three of the reorganizations will take place in October while the other six will take place in November. The mergers will reduce redundancies, according to a Northern Trust spokesman, since these Northern Institutional Funds and the corresponding Northern Funds have become nearly identical.

Touchstone Investments [profile] will be merging the Touchstone Emerging Markets Equity II Fund into the Touchstone Emerging Market Equity Fund. As of August 20, 2012, the Touchstone Emerging Markets Equity II Fund has $50.1 million in AUM, according to data from Morningstar. As of August 20, 2012, the Touchstone Emerging Markets Equity Fund has $458.6 million in AUM, according its profile on Morningstar.[SEC Filing]

Other funds are being reorganized.

Invesco [profile] has added new PMs to several funds. Scott Roberts has been added on to manage the Invesco V.I. Diversified Income Fund. Invesco Core Plus Bond Fund, and the Invesco Van Kampen Corporate Bond Fund.

Eaton Vance [profile] added John H. Croft as PM to the Eaton Vance Global Dividend Income Fund. He will be managing the fund along with Aamer Khan and Judith A. Saryan [SEC Filing]
