Pyxis Poaches a Wholesaler from Turner

Pyxis Funds [Profile] has hired away wholesaler John Caron from Turner Investments to serve as regional sales director for the New England region.

According to Caron's Linkedin page, he will be responsible for wholesaling Pyxis products, formerly marketed under the Highland brand, including mutual funds, closed-end funds and alternative investments throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Pyxis strategies range from broad-based equity and fixed income investments to alternative strategies such as long/short equity, trend following and alternative credit.

Caron had been at Turner since August 2009, according to his Linkedin page. While there, he was responsible for wholesaling mutual funds, separately managed accounts, hedge funds and long/short equity strategies to a variety of client types including wirehouses, regional broker dealers, independents and registered investment advisors in North Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona.

Before that, he had been a business consultant and vice president of sales at John Hancock Funds.

The hiring by Pyxis comes only months after J. Bradley Ross took the helm of Pyxis Capital, the advisor of Pyxis Funds, in June from Joe Dougherty. In a June MFWire.com story, Ross said that a major objective for his firm was to buildout the distribution team for alternative investments.
