Friday Said to be Deadline for Pitt Replacement

Faced with incipient criticism for leaving the SEC Chair empty for five weeks while filling the Treasury slot in a little more than 48 hours, the White House is reportedly hoping to release the name of a nominee by Friday, according to new reports.

The lead candidate on the current short list is ex-Schwabbie Linnet F. Deily. The Texan is currently ambassador to the World Trade Organization and was a vice chairman of Charles Schwab.

The rest of the short list, according to a report published today in the Washington Post are: Treasury official Peter R. Fisher, J.P. Morgan Chase executive T. Timothy Ryan Jr., former Merrill Lynch general counsel Stephen L. Hammerman, NASD Chairman Robert R. Glauber and former SEC general counsel Ralph C. Ferrara.
