Not Satisfied With Fidelity, Abby Claims New England


Fidelity's[profile] Abigail P Johnson will receive the "New Englander of the Year" award from the New England Council, among with other recipients, reports the Boston Globe.

The regional business organization stated in a press release that Johnson "continues the spirit of family enterprise and community involvement that has defined the Johnsons for generations."

Other recipients included Connecticut congressman John Larson and historian and author David McCullough. Also honored was former Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts President and CEO Robert Sheridan.

According to the Globe, past recipients have included former US Senators George Mitchell and Edward M. Kennedy, Red Auerbach of the Boston Celtics, and Jack Welch of General Electric.
