Schwab Helps Fundsters Track Distribution
Schwab has partnered with financial tech provider Broadridge Financial Solutions arm Access Data to offer an analytics engine to fundsters who sell their products via Schwab’s OneSource platform.
The system, dubbed Schwab Asset Intelligence is a portal that will allow fund providers to capture distribution data and package this data into 14 different kinds of reports to help them better understand exactly how they are doing.
For example, the system will help firms track how assets are generated, which advisors are driving the most sales, how they rank against other funds and where they are gaining traction and adding new clients.
“This is a business that is growing increasingly more and more complex. Third party managers continuously need to better understand their business across different customer channels,” Doug Hanson, Schwab’s vice president overseeing third party mutual fund platforms told MFWire.
The ability to drill down into sales data will be key for users, according to Dan Cwenar, president of Access Data.
“Mutual fund providers can see not only the basics of their business—
like transactions, asset positions on a platform – they can drill down,” he said. “How am I doing in a particular channel? How am I doing in retail versus trust?”
