Bond ETF News Is Mostly, But Not All, Bad


Enough about bond funds. What is happening to bond ETFs, now that interest rates are set to rise? The results are mixed, FoxBusiness reported.

The BlackRock [profile] iShares CMBS ETF has fallen by two percent over the past 90 days while BlackRock [profile] iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF lost 11.2 percent and Pimco [profile] Total Return ETF fell almost 4.5 percent in the same period.

However, SPDR [profile] Barclays Convertible Securities ETF has gained 4.24 percent. Others simply made the list of better performing bond ETFs by not losing as much as others, with SPDR [profile] Barclays Short Term High Yield Bond ETF losing only 1.1 percent and Invesco [profile] PowerShares Senior Loan Portfolio falling 1.1 percent in the same 90 day period.
