Ex-Schwab, Fido Honcho Joins Hands With a Green Fund

Charles Goldman, former Charles Schwab [profile] and Fidelity [profile] RIA custody's chief, took a material minority stake and became a board member for Green Alpha Advisors, which is the subadvisor of Shelton Capital Management [profile] Shelton Green Alpha Fund, RIABiz's Brooke Southall writes.

“The notion of socially responsible investing is that you give up returns to do the right thing. This isn’t about that at all. This is about the macro trend of sustainability and buying stocks based on solid fundamentals but using this (nod to sustainability) as an initial screen. I see it as a great opportunity,” Goldman is quoted by Southall in the article.

Goldman's actions are part of a larger trend of positive buzz for the fund, which has garnered attention from socially conscious investors at the end of the second quarter, Southall reports. The Shelton Green Alpha Fund has holdings in Tesla, Google and First Solar. Southhall writes that the fund made it to the top 1 percent of 1,821 large-growth category funds and returned 15.47 percent.

Managing director of Shelton Capital Management, Dennis Clark, brought Green Alpha, Goldman and Shelton Capital Management together, Southall writes.

Shelton caught the attention of MFWire in early 2012.
