A Mazzilli Protege Joins UBS

One of Paul Mazzilli's protégé has flown the coop.

David Perlman, a former ETF/CEF research vice president at Morgan Stanley, has now joined UBS.

Perlman had served in the department created by the legendary Paul Mazzilli since 2007. He had worked an additional two years previously in Morgan Stanley's Bondline business.

His team provides coverage and rates hundreds of ETFs and closed end funds.

Perlman was part of a research team, that also included Michael Jabara and Stephen Minar, and had won awards for Best Research Analyst / Team for Closed-End Funds and Best Research Analyst / Team for ETF Sectorfrom the Capital Link Forum in 2012 and 2011.

All of these researchers are proteges of Mazzilli, who left his position as Executive Director and Director of ETF Research at Morgan Stanley in December 2008 after 33-years with the firm. He has since worked as a contributor at TheStreet, chairman of Merenick Enterprises, and a senior advisor at S-Network Global Indexes.

For the past five years, Mazzilli has been a senior advisor at IndexIQ.
