Next Up For American Century: Global and Non-US Equities, and Non-Traditional Strats

Fresh from their latest mutual fund launch, the American Century [profile] team is looking outside the U.S. and outside the traditional style boxes for more product ideas.

Last week the Kansas City, Missouri-based mutual fund shop unveiled the American Century Multi-Asset Income Fund. Glen Casey, senior vice president and global head of products, talked with MFWire about what products are coming next for American Century.

Casey says that global and non-U.S. equities strategies could be next. So, too, could non-traditional or alternative strategies, he says, pointing to American Century's equity market neutral strategy. On the liquid alts side Casey sees bifurcated needs, with some advisors and investors wanting all-in-one alternatives solutions, whiles others want to build their own alts out of components.

"Clearly the marketplace is looking for alternatives to traditional stock and bond investments," Casey says.

As for the new multi-asset income fund, Casey describes the product as sitting at "the intersection of retirement and income."

"It's really right in the sweet spot of what people are interested in," Casey says. "This is really designed for investors who are seeking income today and tomorrow."
