A Key SSgA Exec Joins Bathon

A veteran State Street Global Advisors (SSgA [profile]) executive who held a key post just joined up with a top mutual fund industry consulting team.

Neil Bathon, founder of FUSE Research Network, confirms that on Monday Bob Kennedy joined the Needham, Massachusetts-based shop as director of relationship development. Kennedy most recently spent five years at SSgA as head of intermediary marketing in North America for its ETFs and mutual funds.

SSgA spokesman Brendan Paul confirms that SSgA "is searching for a replacement" to fill Kennedy's shoes.

"This kind of rounds out the team nicely," Bathon says of adding Kennedy, praising the latter's "solid knowledge of what's on in the ETF side of the business."

"He's one of our more pure marketers," Bathon tells MFWire.

Bathon says that he aims to have about 10 clients per relationship manager, and adding Kennedy brings FUSE back to that ratio.

"Our model is high personal touch," Bathon says.

An alumnus of Notre Dame and of Boston College, Kennedy previously worked with John Hancock Funds and Columbia. He also spent eight years at one of Bathon's past ventures, FRC.
