Pimco's Chief Quant Tries Something New

Pimco's top quant is trying something new.

On Tuesday Vineer Bhansali revealed the creation his own firm, LongTail Alpha. Like Pimco [profile], LongTail is based in Newport Beach, California. Yet his new shop is specifically geared at "qualified investors," which in hedge fund speak means folks with enough assets or income to be allowed to invest in hedge funds.
