Callahan Brings an Allianz Distro Vet to Oak Ridge

A former top distribution executive at Allianz Global Investors [profile] just joined Oak Ridge Investments.

Connecticut-based Todd Campo joined the Chicago-based asset manager last month as senior vice president and head of strategic business development. He most recently served as director and head of private bank and RIA sales at Allianz.

MFWire could not immediately reach John Carroll, head of U.S. retail at Allianz, for comment on how Campo's duties are being handled.

Phil Callahan, head of distribution and marketing at Oak Ridge, confirms that he and Campo will divide up the country when it comes to Oak Ridge's relationships with broker-dealers, insurance companies, retirement plan providers, and RIAs. Callahan, in addition to his other duties, will handle the central and western parts of the U.S., while Campo will handle the east.

"We want to branch out into private banks, too," Callahan tells MFWire. "He'll be a great leader for us."

Watch for Callahan and his team to push into subadvisory distribution, too. It's all part of a firm-wide, long-term strategy of diversification, Callahan says: diversifying their product lineup, their assets, their revenues, and their distribution channels.

Campo is an alumnus of Curry College. He joined Brian Gaffney's Allianz Global Investors Distributors team five years ago to lead business development in the private bank channel. Prior to that he worked at Neuberger Berman and American Skandia.

Last year global AGI CEO Elizabeth Corley revealed that, at the end of 2015, AGI U.S. CEO Gaffney would retire, to be succeeded by Asia Pacific AGI CEO and ex-PM Doug Eu.
