Allianz's Eu Picks Carroll's Successor

John Carroll is leaving Allianz [profile], and Doug Eu is making two more key changes to the distribution leadership team.

Kate Thompson
Allianz Global Investors
Managing Director, Head of US Retail
Carroll himself, formerly managing director and head of U.S. retail for Allianz Global Investors, did not immediately return a call for comment on his move.

Carroll departed effective January 1, Allianz spokeswoman Kelly Smith confirms. Smith also confirms that managing director Kate Thompson, head of advisory national accounts, has been promoted to head of U.S. retail in Carroll's stead. Thompson now reports directly to Eu, who took over as CEO of New York City-based Allianz Global Investors U.S. last year.

Meanwhile, managing director Andy Wilmot, who leads Allianz's U.S. subadvisory channel, will now report directly to Eu, Smith confirms. Wilmot and Glenn Dial, managing director and head of retirement distribution, previously reported to Carroll.

Carroll is an alumnus of Rutgers. He first joined Allianz in 2008 after spending two decades at Merrill Lynch, most recently as head of insurance distribution.

Thompson is an alumnus of University College of Dublin. She was working at Pimco when Allianz bought the fixed income giant in 2000, and she has worked on the Allianz Global Investors side ever since.
