ReFlow Builds Team

ReFlow Management is bulking up its sales and marketing team. Among its recent hires are James Halligan, who is overseeing its sales efforts, Grant Wood and Kathy Simon. The firm also recently hired Roger Edelen as managing director of research.

Dr. Edelen is a former professor at Wharton Business School and has conducted research analyzing the trading decisions of mutual fund managers and evaluating topics such as portfolio risk, fair value of market pricing, portfolio turnover and efficiency.

"When we sought an expert in the field of academics to advise us on the costs associated with mutual fund trading, Professor Edelen's name quickly rose to the top of the list," said Alan Reid, president of ReFlow Management Co., LLC. "With his knowledge, we can continue to provide the mutual fund industry with more information about transaction costs so they can quantify the true value of the ReFlow service."

The San Francisco-based firm was founded by Gordon P. Getty to provide liquidity to mutual funds through an Internet-based system that purchases and holds fund shares to offset the fund's redemptions and then redeems those shares back to the fund in a net subscription situation.

Halligan was most recently a managing director at Furman Selz, where he had spent 10 years and is a board member of Forward Management. At ReFlow he takes the title of vice president of sales. He was also director of Institutional Sales at Lehman Brothers running the West Coast division.

Wood also joined ReFlow as Vice President of Sales. He was previously managing director of the ING Managed Account Group since 1990. Prior to that, he was at Pacific Northwest Capital, where he served as a senior vice president of Marketing. He was also a managing director of TCW Funds Management.

Meanwhile, Simon was hired as marketing manager for ReFlow. She was most recently a financial services account manager at Berlin Communications and before that managed marketing programs for Currenex, an online foreign currency exchange. She was also a marketing team manager supporting the institutional sales team at Montgomery Asset Management.
