Vanguard's Strategy Chief Passes the Reins

Glenn Reed, managing director of The Vanguard Group's strategy division, is retiring in late July, Vanguard chief Bill McNabb confirms. Reed was responsible for strategic design, innovation initiatives, and investment stewardship.

Chris McIsaac, managing director of the planning and development division, will assume Reed’s innovation and strategy duties. Anne Robinson, managing director for the legal and compliance division, will oversee the investment stewardship division at Vanguard.

“We thank Glenn for more than a decade of service to our clients and crew,” states McNabb, chairman and CEO at Vanguard. “His long association with Vanguard and his experience were great assets in guiding the firm through the global financial crisis and the ensuing period of rapid growth and expansion. We wish him the best during his well-earned retirement.”

Reed, 64, joined Vanguard in 2007 to preside over its finance division after serving Vanguard as an outside counsel for over 20 years. Prior to Vanguard, Reed was vice president and general counsel at HealthMarkets, Inc. from 1999-2006. Before that he was partner at Gardner, Carton & Douglas from 1978-1999, where he worked as an expert in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and investment management related issues.
