An MF Distro Chief Joins a Multinational PE Shop


A U.S. mutual fund shop's distribution chief just joined a British multinational private equity shop.

Doug Keller, head of private wealth at London-based Pantheon, confirms that Raleigh, North Carolina-based Mike Hutten recently came on board as a principal, focused on marketing Pantheon's U.S. private wealth initiative.

Hutten most recently served as partner and president of distribution at a U.S.-based, liquid alternatives mutual fund shop, Hatteras Funds [profile]. He left Hatteras in the fall.

Hatteras partner and president Rob Brown, who previously served as managing director of business strategy, did not return calls for comment. Hutten himself did not return a call for comment.

Hutten, an alumnus of UC Santa Barbara, first joined Hatteras in 2006. After leaving in 2011 and working for J.P. Morgan, Hutten returned to Hatteras in 2012 and then rose to president of distribution in 2013. Prior to Hatteras he worked with Santa Barbara Alpha Strategies, Montgomery Asset Management, Scudder Weisel Capital, and Robertson Stephens & Company.

Pantheon, which is majority-owned by AMG, had $37.3 billion in AUM as of September 30, 2017.
