Week In Preview, April 23-29

Today the Financial Planning Association (FPA) team will kick off the 2018 FPA Retreat. The four-day event is being held at the Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Arizona and is being co-chaired by Kirsten Ismail, vice president of wealth management at UBS, and Scott Kahan, president of Financial Asset Management Corporation. Keynote speakers scheduled to appear include Ron Galloway, Stephanie Kelton, and George Kinder.

Also today, the Financial Research Associates (FRA) team will kick off their 25th Sub-Advised Funds Forum. The two-day event is being held at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel in New York City.

Also today in New York City, the Sohn Conference Foundation team will host their 2018 flagship event New York Sohn Investment Conference and its companion Sohn Next Wave Conference. The events, held at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center, feature short speeches from a host of hedge fund PMs. At least one famous mutual fund PM, DoubleLine CEO Jeffrey Gundlach, will speak at the conference again, too.

Gundlach and his team will stick around in New York City tomorrow, hosting an afternoon "Inflation is Inflationary" investor event and cocktail reception at the Metropolitan Club in midtown Manhattan.

On Wednesday, also in the Big Apple, 3EDGE founder Steve Cucchiaro and chief investment strategist Fritz Folts will host a press roundtable luncheon at the Harvard Club of New York City.

On Sunday the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE) team will kick off their 41st annual AIMSE Marketing & Sales Conference. The three-day event will be held at the National Doral in Miami, Florida. Gus Catsavis of Pinnacle Asset Management and Holly Verdeyen of Russell Investments are co-chairing the conference, which begins on Sunday with a golf tournament, a boot camp, and two welcome receptions.

This week on the defined contribution side of the industry, the teams at the Employee Benefits Research Institute (EBRI), Fi360, FIS' Relius, and the Stable Value Investment Association (SVIA) are all hosting events. Our sister publication, 401kWire, has more details.
