At a $623B-AUM Shop, a COO's Successor Rises

A publicly traded mutual fund firm's chief has found his next chief operating officer.

Kate C. Burke
AllianceBernstein, L.P.
Chief Administrative Officer
Yesterday, in an SEC filing, the AllianceBernstein [profile] team revealed that CEO Seth Bernstein will promote chief administrative officer Kate Burke to COO on July 1. Burke will succeed outgoing COO Jim Gingrich, who as previously reported is expected to retire between the end of 2020 and the end of 2022.

The change comes as the AllianceBernstein team is going through a multi-year headquarters relocation.

Burke joined Bernstein Research in 2004, in 2016 she became AB's head of human capital and chief talent officer, and last June she rose to CAO. Prior to she worked at A.T. Kearney. She is an alumna of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and of the College of the Holy Cross.

Gingrich led AB's Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. sell-side research subsidiary before rising to AB COO eight years ago. He is an alumnus of Cornell University.

AB's AUM rose to $623 billion on December 31, 2019.
