The team at a $714-billion-AUM fund firm is celebrating a big milestone for one of their equity mutual funds.

Yesterday, Columbia Threadneedle Investments' [profile] Kari Montanus trumpeted that the Columbia Select Mid Cap Value Fund recently reached its 20-year anniversary. The high-conviction, bottom-up fund first launched on November 20, 2001 and now has $2.628 billion in AUM.

Montanus is the 20-year-old fund's lead PM, while Jonas Patrikson is the co-PM. (Montanus has been its lead PM since 2018.)

"Mid cap value is the 'sweet spot' of the market currently," Montanus states. "This overlooked asset class can be a source of diversification for investors, as it offers exposure to areas of the economy likely to benefit from more peristent inflation and the reopening of the economy."
