A $659B-AUM Firm Adds 3 EM Funds


A $659-billion-AUM (as of March 31) mutual fund firm's team recently added a trio of new emerging market funds.

Late last month, Gerard O'Reilly and Dave Butler, co-CEOs of Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA [profile]), unveiled the Austin, Texas-based shop's three newest ETFs. The Dimensional Emerging Markets Core Equity 2 ETF (DFEM on the NYSE Arca), Dimensional Emerging Markets High Profitability ETF (DEHP), and Dimensional Emerging Markets Value ETF (DFEV) all debuted on the exchange on April 27. (Their inception date was April 26.)

All three funds are series of the Dimensional ETF Trust, with Dimensional Fund Advisors LP as their investment advisor and DFA Securities LLC as their distributor and principal underwriter. Jed Fogdall (vice president and global head of portfolio management), Joseph Hohn (VP), and Allen Pu (deputy head of portfolio management for North America and VP) all serve as PMs on all three new funds. DFA now offers 23 ETFs and has about $48 billion in ETF AUM.

Ethan Wren, a VP, is another PM on DFEV. The fund comes with an expense ratio of 43 basis points (including an 8-bps fee waiver through February 28) and had $44.3 million in AUM as of May 6.

Wren also serves as a PM on DEHP. The fund comes with an expense ratio of 41 bps (including a 5-bps fee waiver through February 28) and had $6.2 million in AUM as of May 6.

And Mary Phillips (deputy head of portfolio management for North America and VP) and William Collins-Dean (a VP) are also PMs on DFEM. The fund comes with an expense ratio of 39 bps (including an 11-bps fee waiver through February 28) and had $61.6 million in AUM as of May 6.

The new funds' other service providers include: Citi Fund Services Ohio, Inc. (CFSO) as accounting agent, administration services agent, and dividend disbursing agent; Citibank, N.A. as custodian, securities lending agent, and transfer agent; PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) as independent accounting firm; and Stradly Ronon Stevens & Young LLP.
