30 Years In, a Fund Firm Prez Retires


At a 48-year-old, $3.6-billion-AUM (as of September 30) mutual fund firm, a top executive is preparing to pass the reins after more than 30 years with the Empire State asset manager.

Today, John Fox, CEO of Fenimore Asset Management [profile] (home of the FAM Funds), confirms that Saratoga Springs, New York-based Christian Snyder is joining the Cobleskill, New York-based firm as its new president. Snyder succeeds outgoing president Deb Pollard, who will retire from Fenimore at the end of the year.

Snyder most recently served as chief operating officer for the wealth strategies group at Goldman Sachs' Ayco Personal Financial Management. A Goldman spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fox lauds Pollard and Snyder as leaders who exemplify the Fenimore team's "strong values, distinctive investment philosophy, and dedication to service excellence." Fox highlights Snyder's "solid track record of leadership and integrity."

Snyder joined Ayco in 2014 as deputy general counsel, then rose to COO of the wealth strategies group in 2017. Earlier, he worked with Liberty Mutual Insurance, High Street Partners, and Silicon Valley Bank, and he also served as a language teacher. He is an alumnus of Suffolk University Law School and of Colgate University.

Pollard joined Fenimore back in 1992 and served in a variety of roles before rising to president in 2016. She is an alumna of Sage Graduate School and of Ithaca College.
