President-Elect
Today, Michael O'Grady, CEO of Northern Trust, confirms that Daniel Gamba will join the Chicago-based firm on April 3 as president of Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) [profile]. Gamba will report to O'Grady and will join Northern Trust's management group.

Gamba most recently served as co-head of fundamental equities at BlackRock [profile] (where he also served on the firm's global operating, human capital, and portfolio management group executive committees).

"Becci McKinley-Rowe is continuing as Co-Head of the Fundamental Equities Team, BlackRock spokesperson Jelena Nedelka tells MFWire. "Phil Vasan will partner with Becci as Co-Head of FE, while continuing in his role as Deputy Head of the Portfolio Management Group (PMG)."

At Northern Trust, O'Grady lauds Gamba for bringing "a track record of delivering strong results."

"I am confident that under Daniel's leadership, working in close collaboration with NTAM's executive team and his partners on Northern Trust's Management Group, our business will continue to grow and deliver best-in-class investment solutions and services to our clients," O'Grady states.

The appointment of Gamba comes about eight months after Shundrawn Thomas stepped down as president of NTAM.

Gamba joined Barclays Global Investors in 2000, serving as director of global strategy and CEO for Latin America and the Caribbean. He stayed on when BlackRock bought BGI in 2009, later leading the Americas institutional iShares business and leading active equity product strategy before becoming co-head of fundamental equities in 2020. Earlier, he worked with A.T. Kearney, American Express, and Procter & Gamble. He is an alumnus of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and of the Universidad Catolica del Peru.
