After 37 Years, a Fund Firm's RIA Channel Founder Exits

A 37-year veteran of a Beantown mutual fund firm is moving on from its leadership team.

Catherine Anne "Cathy" Saunders
Cathy Saunders is leaving Putnam Investments [profile], MFWire has learned. She most recently served as head of corporate sustainability and public policy at the Boston-based asset manager.

Saunders declined to comment. A Franklin Templeton spokesperson declined to comment. (Franklin bought Putnam earlier this year.)

Saunders first joined the firm in 1987, as sales support representative. Over more than 30 years, Saunders had several roles, including leading the North American institutional channel and later launching and leading the firm's RIA and private banking channel.

"With a full heart and the deepest gratitude, I leave the people and the firm that I love," Saunders writes in a LinkedIn post. "Thank you to all for the joy you have brought me, and for all I have learned from you and the partners we have served together."

Saunders is an alumna of Northeastern University and of the University of New Hampshire.
