Principal Gobbles Connecticut Manager

Institutional money manager Principal Global is adding another $3 billion in assets.

The subsidiary of the Principal Financial Group is buying Stamford, Connecticut-based Columbus Circle Investors, a growth equity manager, the company announced in a release.

Officials stated that the operations of Columbus Circle -- including its name, organizational structure, and office location -- would remain unchanged. Principal will allow to "retain…investment autonomy," stated officials in the release.

Anthony Rizza and Clifford Fox are senior managing directors and portfolio managers at Columbus Circle. More than 20 investment professionals work at the firm.

Columbus Circle manages money for retirement plans and subadvises for mutual funds.
