Advantage, Wells Fargo

As expected, Wells Fargo will drop the scandal-tainted Strong name after it reorganizes the Strong funds into Wells Fargo Funds in the second quarter. Not as expected, however, is the $100 billion fund firm's decision to change the name of the new 120-fund family. The new name will be the Wells Fargo Advantage Funds.

Where did the idea for the name come from?

The acquisition of the strong assets represents a significant change for the Wells Fargo fund family... we decided to choose a name that best represented the [new] combination," said spokesman Won Ha.
