Barclays is not in discussions to sell Barclays Global Investors, an unnamed source told
Reuters. The comment came after
Alphaville, FT.com's blog,
reported Thursday that Barclays was in
"detailed discussions" with a consortium buyer to sell BGI
for about 5 billion pounds ($7.14 billion).
Reuters' source said the bank was not looking to sell BGI.
BGI ended 2008 with $1.5 trillion of AUM.
