Company Press Release

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT - News) and the largest institutional fund manager in the world 1, today announced the appointment of James (Jamie) Kase as executive vice president, head of global sales and marketing.

Serving as a member of SSgA's executive management group, Kase will oversee all aspects of North American sales and global marketing functions, primarily responsible for anticipating and meeting the needs of clients in the institutional and intermediary marketplace. Additionally, Kase will be responsible for further building out the sales and marketing infrastructure that supports more than 300 products, as well as managing employees across institutional sales, relationship management, consultant relations, SSgA’s intermediary business and its business in Canada.

"We're very excited for Jamie to join our team and look forward to the fresh insights he will bring," said Scott Powers, president and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors. "Jamie has devoted much of his career to selling investment solutions to our core client base of sophisticated institutional investors. His investment experience, leadership qualities and outstanding record of accomplishments will no doubt be a great match for our organization as we continue to support our clients’ complex needs."

Throughout his long career in sales and marketing, Kase has focused on delivering investment solutions to sophisticated institutional buyers for businesses with a global, matrixed structure. Most recently, as executive vice president at ING Investment Management in New York, Kase led the company’s US distribution effort across defined benefit and investment only defined contribution channels. He also chaired ING’s Global Marketing and Distribution Committee, which is responsible for coordinating efforts across the globe with the regional heads in Europe and Asia.

Prior to ING, Kase was chief operating officer and head of the Institutional Business in the Americas at Merrill Lynch Investment Management (MLIM), where he joined the firm in 2000 as a product specialist representing quantitative strategies. Less than a year after he joined MLIM, the company promoted him to lead the sales team. Kase’s early career spanned capital markets covering derivatives with some of the largest desks in the world, including Bankers Trust, Swiss Bank (now UBS) and Lehman Brothers. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brown University.

Commenting on his appointment, Kase said: "I am tremendously excited by the opportunity to join SSgA and help it achieve its objectives. With its global reach and extensive product breadth, SSgA is exceedingly well-positioned to be a strategic partner to its clients in this challenging market environment."
