If the ETF fee wars are a grand campaign involving multiple armies fighting on myriad battlefields, IndexUniverse decided today to focus in on three small but potentially important skirmishes.

First, writer Matt Hougan highlights the fight between two gold ETFs — the iShares Gold Trust [profile] and State Street Global Advisor's [profile] SPDR Gold Shares.

The second battle is between the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund and the iShares Core Emerging Markets ETF ... that's right. An ETF price battle between two funds at the same company.

The final battle is similarly a one firm battle, pitting PowerShares against itself.

Hougan concludes that while the fights in the ETF core space are winding down, the fights on the perimeter are still going strong.
