| George Gatch JPMorgan Asset Management CEO, Investment Management, Americas | |
By the start of the year
JPMorgan [
see profile] had cracked the top five fund firms in total AUM yet few likely know the bank's brand. But then, JPMorgan's fund business does not look like most others. Its business is built around money market funds and institutional investors. It also includes a string of acquisitions both due to its parent company's mergers and strategic deals.
All of that is just fine with
George Gatch, who is happy overseeing a business that straddles the institutional and retail worlds. With Citi's fund business now in the hands of Legg Mason and Bank America's Columbia Management packed off to Ameriprise, JPMorgan is uniquely positioned for that role.
This year, Gatch was promoted to CEO of JPMorgan Asset Management's investment management unit in the Americas.
