Prep a PowerShares Active Commodities ETF Ben Fulton and his team at Invesco PowerShares [profile] revealed plans to launch an actively managed futures-based commodities ETF called PowerShares Commodity Rotation Portfolio. [SEC filing] IndexUniverse picked up on the Wheaton, Illinois-based ETF shop's filing. "PowerShares is putting the fund into registration at a time of heightened investor interest in commodities investing, in part because demand for all sorts of materials has been on the upswing in the past 15 years due to emerging markets growth," wrote IndexUniverse's Olivier Ludwig. PowerShares runs the biggest broad-based commodities ETF in the industry, the $5.67 billion PowerShares DB Commodity Index Tracking Fund. That ETF launched nearly six years ago.
