Stork and Reaper for July 18, 2012

Both the Stork and the Reaper must be worn out from yesterday's flurry of activity, as there are only 2 new funds today and no fund liquidations.

PIMCO Funds has filed to launch the Mortgage Opportunities Fund. The PM of the fund is unnamed. The mutual fund will seek maximum long-term return, to be achieved by investing at least 80 percent of its assets in a portfolio of mortgage-related assets. [SEC Filing]

Dimensional Fund Advisors is launching the Global Fixed Income (GBP Hedge) Portfolio. The fund seeks long-term capital appreciation and will be PMed by David A. Plecha and Joseph F. Kolerich. [SEC Filing]

While there were no fund closings, some funds did change management and structure.

Columbia Funds' Columbia Technology Fund has added Rahul Narang as co-PM. Narang joined the firm this year with 18 years of industry experience, having previously worked at Robeco and Apex. [SEC Filing]

American Funds will manage equity assets through three equity investment divisions and fixed-income assets through a fixed-income division. The three equity divisions will make independent investment decisions. William L. Robbins and Dylan J. Yolles, fund portfolio counselors, will continue managing fund assets, but will be moved to the third equity investment division effective September 1. [SEC Filing]
