Friday, May 24, 2013 An EM ETF Flies High Bloomberg is smiling on PowerShares [profile], or at least on one of its ETFs. Eric Balchunas of the wire service profiled the Invesco unit's high-flying PowerShares DWA Emerging Market Technical Leaders Portfolio, which is powered by Tom Dorsey's Dorsey Wright Emerging Markets Technical Leaders Index. Each quarter that index shifts and tracks only 100 emerging markets stocks (out of a pool of more than 2,000) that have performed best over the past six to twelve months. The ETF has returned 14.6 percent year-to-date, compared to falls of 1 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively, in its giant, more traditional index rivals, the Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF and the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF.
