MainStay's Gundersen Hires Two to Target RIAs and Private Banks


A pair of sales executives just joined MainStay's [profile] team that targets RIAs and private banks.

Managing Director, Head of Institutional Intermediary Business
Today Brendan Gundersen, managing director and head of the institutional intermediary business at the New York Life unit, confirms the hiring of Lance Oman and Greg Zipoli as senior vice presidents, with Oman covering the west and Zipoli in the north central part of the country. Gunderson already has team members covering the Northeast and Southeast, and he has about 30 people total on the team.

An alumnus of California State University, San Francisco-based Oman most recently spent a year and a half at Fidelity [profile] selling funds to RIAs and bank trusts in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington State. He previously held similar sales roles at TCW, iShares, and Schwab. He joined MainStay in July.

MFWire could not immediately reach a spokesperson for Fidelity for comment on how Oman's duties are being handled.

An alumnus of Ithaca College, Chicago-based Zipoli most recently spent a year Good Harbor parent Cedar Capital. Prior to that he held sales roles at SSgA, Pershing, Fidelity, and Boston Capital. He joined MainStay in August.

"Greg's responsibilities were taken over by our National Accounts team," Cedar CEO Paul Ingersoll tells MFWire in an emailed statement.

Gundersen praises Oman for having an "incredibly strong background in active funds" and praises Zipoli for building "deep experience selling custody and both active and passive investment solutions to RIAs." Gundersen adds that Oman and Zipoli have four decades of experience combined.
