Goodbye, Janus. Hello, Janus Henderson!

Nearly eight months after unveiling their $6-billion merger, Dick Weil and Andrew Formica have sealed the deal. Janus Henderson Group plc is here.

Yesterday 47-year-old, Denver-based Janus Capital Group Inc. [profile] and 83-year-old, London-based Henderson Group plc [profile] confirmed the closing of their merger. The new Janus Henderson is based in London but lists on the NYSE and the ASX. (Henderson's shares have delisted from the LSE.) As expected, Weil (formerly chief of Janus) and Formica (formerly chief of Henderson) will be co-CEOs of the freshly combined, multinational asset manager, which has about $331 billion in AUM worldwide (as of March 31).

Janus' hometome paper, the Denver Post, sings a swan song for a pre-merger Janus and reminds readers of Janus' history since its founding by Thomas Bailey in 1970.
