A Third PLANCO Vet Increases the Hiring Pace at an ETF Shop

As of May 15, Phil Eichinger joined Pacer Financial as a senior vice president. He will lead the firm’s wholesaling efforts across ETFs, annuities, and other product lines, and he plans to expand his team within the firm.

Eichinger most recently led distribution at RS Investments [profile], which was acquired by Victory Capital [profile] in July 2016.

A spokesperson from Victory Capital was not immediately available for further comment.

With his new role, Eichinger will be continuing distributional management, handling both external and internal wholesalers. Pacer currently has 14 external wholesalers, and Eichinger’s goal is to get to 20 in 60 days, as well as continue the tremendous sales force growth that the company has had within the past two years, Eichinger says.

At Pacer, Eichinger will be, once again, working alongside Pacer Financial president Joe Thomson and Pacer ETF Distributors president Sean O’Hara, who were Eichinger’s colleagues at PLANCO at the start of his career.

The senior management at Pacer is a primary reason Eichinger was drawn to the firm, he says. Working with them for almost 20 years has given him “great familiarity.”

“I’ve seen the movie before and I know how it ends. I know the management team and trust them,” Eichinger says.

Further, Pacer’s products, specifically its Trendpilot Series, lured Eichinger to the firm. With a rise of concern with retirement, the Trendpilot Series addresses the needs for upside potential and provides proven methodology that gives strong downside protection, Eichinger explains.

Pacer ETFs, a 7-time award winning exchange traded fund provider, has garnered about $980 million in assets as of the end of May since its launch in 2015.
